In 2008 Ian Benison took on a project to work with groups of offenders. The aim of the project was to build confidence and skills using horticulture as a base.
Slic was born.
From 4 people meeting around Ian’s dining room table this has now developed into 50+ staff who’s senior team meet around a board table at Slic’s head office in Chesterfield – some contrast!
The initial team, along with Ian, had a background in the land-based sector, and this is where the initial ‘specialism’ came from. Over the years that specialism has evolved organically and has become what you see today, Facilities Management Experts, covering areas from Horticulture to Professional Cookery and everything in between.
We are often asked about our name.
It actually comes from the first initials of Ian’s family;
S – his daughter Shannon
l – his wife Lynne
i – Ian, of course
c – his daughter Caitlen
Ian regularly tells us that naming a business is arguably one of the hardest things you can do. He settled on this name as it continually reminds us of the family ethos we hold so dear, no matter how big we get.
At Slic Training we have an International team that is continually growing, so whilst we would love to list every single one of them, it may become a bit of a long list so we have opted just to give you the details of our Senior and Operational Management Teams.Discover more
