Landscaping Pathway

What qualification will I achieve?

The main qualification is the Level 2 or 3 Diploma in Work-Based Horticulture: Landscaping.

How will this qualification delivered?

Like most of our qualifications this programme is delivered completely in the work-place. Visits will generally be on a monthly basis and you need to plan for around a day a month worth of training time. This doesn't have to be a whole day in one go and it isn't all 'off the tools'.

Who is this qualification aimed at?

There are multiple pathways in the Horticulture Framework so dependent on which one you chose it would suit various roles;
Gardener, Landscaper, Nursery Worker, Fruit and Vegetable Production Worker, Machinery Operator, Greenkeeper, Groundsperson, Gravedigger, Horticultural Technician, Deputy Head Greenkeeper, Deputy Head Groundsman., Garden Designer, Senior Gardener, Gardener (Historic and Botanic) or Parks Officer.

Is this part of an apprenticeship framework?

Yes. The knowledge part of the qualification is embedded within the main qualification so in addition you will be required to complete Functional Skills in Maths and English, unless you have an exemption.

What will it cost me?

What could this qualification lead to?

After completing this qualification you could progress on to a Level 3 Diploma in Work-Based Horticulture or even a more generic qualification in Team Leading, Management or Customer Services.

Employers Information

What will it cost me?

We have funding for both currently employed staff and new recruits (apprentices). The total value of the training you will receive is in excess of £5,000, in most cases you are required to make a small employer contribution but this cash investment is a fraction of the value, we know employers contribute much more than just money.

How will I choose the right person?

We offer a free of charge recruitment service to ensure you get the right person – worth approximately £2,500 and the vast majority of our apprentices carry on working with their employers after the programme finishes

How much should I pay an apprentice?

The National Minimum Wage for an Apprentice is £3.30* per hour, you can pay more if you would like to.

Will they get a qualification?

Yes, in most cases learners will work towards a suite of qualifications related to their chosen vocation. 85% of our learners successfully complete all elements of their Framework.
