During the course of this week (w/c 13.07.15) Slic Training have had an assessment team from matrix based at their head office in Chesterfield.

“The matrix Standard is the unique quality framework for organisations to assess and measure their information, advice and/or guidance services, which ultimately supports individuals in their choice of career, learning, work and life goals.” www.matrixstandard.com

Through a rigorous assessment process including; staff, learner, client and partner interviews, the team assessed Slic against the main areas of the standard:

  • Leadership and Management
  • Resources
  • Service Delivery
  • Continuous Quality Improvement

 

After 3 days of assessment the Management Team were informed yesterday evening (16.07.15) that the organisation had met the standard “by a good margin”.

The lead assessor noted particular strengths from his findings around the following areas:

  • Leadership and Management
  • Partnership Working
  • Approach to Continuous Professional Development (CPD)
  • Performance Management

As can be expected the assessment also identified areas where Slic could make improvements. An action plan is now being created to identify how Slic can shout more about these ‘soft skill’ improvements – development outside of the main qualifications is a key part of the provision but it is not celebrated enough.

Slic are over the moon with the outcome of the assessment and thank all staff, learners and partners for their input and support.
